Italian star Mario Balotelli has escaped serious injuries after a car crash on Thursday night.

One of football's bad boys, Mario Balotelli, has destroyed his R2.3 million Audi Q8, which is strangely the second Audi he has crashed during his football career!

The story

The Italian star was involved in a serious car accident in Brescia in Italy on Thursday after losing control of his vehicle. He was driving his Audi Q8 sports SUV worth £100 000 (R2.3 million).

The people of Burnley have begun a movement to support Lyle Foster.

The impact of the collision forced the airbags to go off after the car had crashed into a wall, however, the centre-forward escaped without any serious injuries. Emergency officials arrived on the scene and the player needed paramedics to get him out of the drivers seat.

The incident is said to have occurred around 8.30pm and police attempted to give him a breathalyser test to check if he was under the influence of alcohol but the 33-year-old refused, prompting the authorities to confiscate his drivers' license.

His brother Enock Barwuah visited the scene of the crash and took him home without the star being admitted to hospital. It is not the first time the Italian crashed an Audi, as he was previously involved in another accident in 2010 while at City.

Balotelli was found to be carrying £5 000 (R118 779) in cash while driving an Audi R8 at the time. He was asked what the money was for and Sky Sport Italia claimed that the now Adana Demirspor talisman responded: "Because I am rich."

Regrets

The marksman is no stranger to controversy, as he been dubbed one of football's bad boys. While he admits he had some disciplinary issues, one thing he regrets the most is his departure from Manchester City.

"I think that was my biggest mistake, to leave City," he told The Athletic in 2022. "Even in the year when I left, I played very well in Milan for a year and a half, but after that, I had some problems. And now that I'm older, I know that I shouldn't have left City at that time.

"All these years seeing City improving, improving and improving. I could have been here like Sergio Aguero for a long time. If I had my mindset now [laughs]. When I was at City, probably one [Ballon d'Or] I could have won, I'm sure about this. But you know, when you grow up, you mature more, so."
