KickOff can reveal that Kaizer Chiefs are concerned about their coaching situation and had a meeting to discuss interim coach Cavin Johnson's immediate future after the defeat to Richards Bay FC.

Amakhosi suffered their fourth loss in five league games, where they could not score a goal in four consecutive matches after going down 1-0 to the Natal Rich Boyz.

Chiefs' current form is up there with their worst runs since the inception of the PSL and under normal circumstances, the coach's future would be under serious doubt.

This website can exclusively reveal that the Glamour Boys did have a serious meeting this week to discuss, among other issues, Johnson's immediate future with the club following the poor results.

"Look, there was a meeting. The meeting you're talking about is because of the coach. Are they gonna keep him or bring someone new, because the results are not coming?" a source close to the situation revealed.

"They decided they will keep him on until the end of the season, there's few games left, it's going to be pointless to bring someone.

"It's not 100 percent (that Johnson will finish the season), but I don't foresee that they can let him go back now. They will keep him on until the season is done," the source added.

Chiefs are running out of options for a different coach to take over from within in the last few games of the season, as assistant coach Dillon Sheppard may not be part of the technical team next season after Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr confirmed that they will have a completely different coaching structure next season.

"It's something we communicated from the onset. Cavin has stepped in on an interim basis and we're (committed) to having a different technical structure next season," Motaung Jr told journalists on the sidelines of Luke Fleurs' memorial at FNB Stadium.

"I know we are focused on the next game and the next games and we have everything to play for. But yes, definitely the plans have long been in motion. We'll be having a different technical structure next season," Motaung Jr affirmed.

This publication has it on good authority that Johnson will return to his Head of Youth position at the end of the campaign.
