CAR clubs, motorists and community members came in their numbers to bid farewell to Minah Mazibuko (51) and Josephine Mazibuko (74) on Saturday, 25 June.
Minah died in a horrific accident as the driver was trying to avoid a giant pothole in Sebokeng zone 10, Vaal. The incident happened when she had just left the mortuary after bathing her late mum, Josephine.
Daily Sun published the story on Wednesday, 21 June, headlined: ‘Daughter dies after bathing dead mum!’
Mourners at the funeral said they were planning to march to the Emfuleni Local Municipality over the number of potholes in the area that cause accidents daily. They also claimed that the municipality wasn't doing anything to address the issue of potholes.
At the time of her death, Minah was preparing her mother’s funeral and just after leaving the mortuary, she was involved in a car crash and died while her driver was rushed to hospital and died after two days.

Speakers at the funeral said they were asking all motorists in the Vaal not to pay traffic fines and license disc at Emfuleni Municipality. They said potholes must first be closed before they could pay.
Mourner Joseph Nhlapho told Daily Sun that his car club was busy with a petition.
“All motorists in the Vaal should sing the same song that the municipality should fix all the potholes within a period of two months, or there will be no traffic fines and license disc that will be paid by motorists in the area. This is because the money paid for traffic fines is not used to fix the roads,” he said.
Nhlapho said they were talking to other clubs in the region to embark on a no-pay traffic fines initiative and licenses disc until all the dangerous roads in Sedibeng have been fixed.
Minah and her mother were laid to rest at De Deur cemetery in the Vaal.
