COPS in Cape Town have arrested two men following a shoot-out that resulted in the killing of a cash-in-transit security guard who was servicing an ATM in Nyanga on Wednesday, 2 November.
Police are still on the hunt for the third suspect who was involved in the attack.
Onlookers told Daily Sun the security guard had just loaded the ATM when he was shot by men who were driving a Golf GTI.
They sped off, but quickly ran out of luck as they were spotted and bust not too far from the scene.
“They didn’t get a chance to even take that money, they shot him and fled the scene,” said one eyewitness.
National police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Robert Netshiunda told Daily Sun:“Reports indicate that three cash-in-transit security guards stopped at the bus terminus to service an ATM when they were accosted by three men armed with handguns.
“The suspects allegedly started shooting at the security guards, killing a 41-year-old guard at the scene.
“Two suspects reportedly fled the scene in a grey Golf GTI, which was later spotted at Sithandathu Avenue.
“Police managed to stop the vehicle and arrested the two suspects.

“A 72-hour activation plan has been instituted to hunt the remaining suspect down.”
Western Cape police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile has applauded cops for their swift response.
“The arrested suspects will appear in court soon on charges of murder, attempted murder and armed robbery,” Patekile said.
