It was mouthwatering delights at the 6th annual Soweto Kota Festival.
The yummy weekend was accompanied by warm weather with the festival being hosted at the Elkah Cricket Oval in Rockville, Soweto, from Saturday, 2 September to Sunday, 3 September 2023.
The two-day event celebrated Mzansi's most loved kasi food - the kota.

Whether you call them bunny chows, sphatlho or the Great Gatsby, one thing you can't deny is the love South Africans have for their township sandwich.
Sipho Mhlongo of Gaula Street Food in Naturena, Joburg, took Daily Sun through the process of making his old school kota.
Phola Ndaba told Daily Sun she enjoyed the tasty kota.
“This is so nice. I’m enjoying the kota and the vibes here. The 6th annual kota festival is on another level,” she said.
Thapelo Mokoena from Meadowlands, Soweto, showcased how he makes his kota’s with his special ingredients such as pork chops, a foot-long russian, and lamb chops just to mention few.
iKota was not the only food sold at the stalls because drinks were also available to quench the audience's thirst. The event was also kid-friendly as it catered for kids by providing jumping castles and a playing area to them.
Holding her kota, Dimakatso Motaung said it was her first time attending this festival and she really enjoyed herself.
”From the music, the food, the people - everything is just vibes. I'm so happy I came,” she said.
Another first timer Mbali Ngubeni said: “This event is so amazing. This is my first time coming here, and I must say I don’t regret it!”
Nonhlanhla Mpotaung told Daily Sun that she will never deprive herself of such fun again.
