THE vibrant and exciting Soweto Kota Festival is upon us.
The 6th annual Blue Ribbon Soweto Kota Festival will take place between 2-3 September at the Soweto Cricket Oval in Rockville, Soweto.
The organiser and founder of the festival, Sidwell Tshingilane, told Daily Sun that this would be the 6th edition, which is getting bigger and better every year.
“We are expecting more than 10 000 people this year. We are excited about the response we are getting from the public. It is overwhelming. We are receiving requests from other townships such as Pretoria and Botswana to host such events,” Sidwell said.
He said that they plan to take the event across provinces and hope that in the coming years, they would have expanded and spread their wings.
“This year, we have new Kota vendors and new sponsors have to come on board, and we also have Halaal,” he said.
Samukelisiwe Sibiya from Thompsons Meat said that this is their first time coming on board to the event as one of the sponsors, and they are excited to be a part of this event and promised to deliver quality and tasty products.
