NQOBILE Ngcobo proved that if you fight for what you want, you will get it in the end.
The 22-year-old matriculant from Cator Ridge, west of Durban, dreamt of being a dentist, but all her dreams disappeared when she failed mathematics during her matric exams in 2022.
But she didn’t give up and decided to return to school and do her matric again at Macingwane Secondary School in Msinga, KZN midlands in 2023.
Now she's proud after passing her 2023 matric with flying colours, getting level six in mathematics obtaining distinctions in all her other subjects.
She has been admitted to the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN) to study for a degree in dental therapy.

Nqobile told Daily Sun that she decided to go back to school to pass her mathematics subject at a high level.
“I’m happy that I passed it with good marks because I wouldn’t be able to study what I liked if I did not pass mathematics with good marks.
“When I went back to school, I told myself that I would pass with good marks that will open doors for me in the university. While I was doing matric last year, I applied to UKZN to study dental therapist," said Nqobile.
She encouraged all matric pupils who didn’t make it in the matric 2023 class that they still have a chance to do it again.
“If they want to see an example, they must look at me. I failed mathematics and went back to school, and now I’m going to university.
“They must not feel ashamed to go back. I was not ashamed to go back to school because I knew that this was my future and I want to work as a dentist, not an assistant,” she said.
