ZULU King Misuzulu has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the pupils who have passed their matric.
Matric results for the class of 2023 were announced by the Minister of Basic Education in Randburg, north of Joburg, on Thursday, 18 January.
King Misuzulu’s spokesman, Prince Africa Zulu, told Daily Sun that it is with great pleasure and pride that he wishes to convey his sincere congratulations on the pupils' remarkable achievements.
"This momentous occasion signifies not only the culmination of years of dedication, hard work and scholarly pursuit, but also the beginning of a new chapter in your lives.
"As you stand on the threshold of a promising future, we would like to express our admiration for your resilience, tenacity and intellectual prowess that you have demonstrated throughout your academic journey," he said.
“His Majesty is particularly pleased with the result of KZN Province, which has made history with 86.4%, overtaking Gauteng, Free State and Western Cape as the top achievers. Equally impressive are the results of the Independent Examination Board (IEB) for the matric class of 2023, which achieved an overall pass rate of 98.46%.
“Special words of gratitude to the office of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa, the Minister of Education Angie Motshekga, the Premier of KZN, Nomusa Dube, with special mention to the MEC for Education in KZN, Mbali Frazer and the Head of department Nkosinathi Ngcobo,” Africa said.
He said that King Misuzulu’s words of gratitude also go to the amakhosi and traditional leadership structures in KZN, senior KZN local government officials, esteemed educators, members of school governing bodies, the community, parents, families and the wider business community for their support, commitment and contributions to this collective achievement.

Prince Africa said King Misuzulu was particularly pleased with the commendable pass rate of the class of 2023, which achieved a pass rate of 82.9% in the National Senior Certificate (NCS) examinations nationwide, an increase from 80.1%.
