VIBE FM sports presenter Sabelo "Sabie" Chili is passionate about sports.
He believes in nurturing kids at an early age about different sporting codes.
When Sabie from KwaMashu, north of Durban, is not behind the mic, he promotes sports in the townships and schools.
He recently finished his programme called Kids Play Grassroot Programme, where he partnered with Milo in August.
Sabie plans to continue with it and take it to another level.
The Vibe FM Afternoon Drive Show sports bulletin presenter told Daily Sun that he started his programme in 2022.
“I’m planning to expand the programme because many children need it. I have sent my proposal to the Department of Sport for sponsorship because I want the programme to run for the year.
“It's important to nurture the young stars while they are still seven years old because many sports codes start to focus on them when they are 15 years,” he said.

Sabie said he targeted kids in townships when he started, but this year he decided to visit different schools in Durban.
“This programme is all in one because it helps nurture young stars at an early age in sporting codes such as soccer, netball, hockey, rugby, and cricket.
“It also helps children exercise when we give them fun activities, and that helps them to fight diseases like obesity," he said.
Sabie said working closer with pupils helped him become patient and understand them better.
“I would like to thank Milo for partnering with me in giving pupils something to drink after our activities.
“I’m just hoping that other sponsors will help me nurture the young ones because they are the future,” he said.
