PROBLEMS are coming left and right for Vibe FM.
The community radio station in KwaMashu, Durban, recently came back on air after they had failed to pay their rent.
On Monday, 1 May, the station went off-air again after KwaMashu Community Advancement Projects (KCAP) closed its gates.
Presenters were not allowed to come in.
KCAP complained about a three-month non-payment of rent.
Vibe FM has been using the centre since 2007 and recently got new studio equipment from Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA).

KCAP manager Thobile Ximba told the Daily Sun they closed the gates for Vibe FM staff.
She said they are not allowing anyone in except those who will come to collect the equipment.
“Actually, we booted out Vibe FM last year after failing to pay rent. They paid their outstanding rent. We told them that our lease with them ends in January and will not be renewed.
“January came and they didn’t move. We told them that we will extend it until the end of April and there will be no further negotiations.
“It is over between us. There will be no further negotiations. They must only take their equipment and another place,” Thobile said.
Vibe FM boss Lucky Dlamini said their relationship with the centre had problems.
“We apologise to people affected as the station went off air again.
Dlamini said they have challenges with their sponsors and partners who pay them late.
