VIBE FM has finally settled its debt with KwaMashu Community Advancement Projects (KCAP).
Although they have settled their rent issues with KCAP, the centre no longer wants anything to do with them and has kicked them out for good.
This happened after the station had not paid its rent for months and the centre evicted them on Monday, 1 May 2023, after which the station went off air.
The station is back on air using a temporary studio in KwaMashu E section, just a few kilometres from KCAP.
The head of Vibe FM, Lucky Dlamini, told Daily Sun that the station is using a temporary studio for now, but is still in talks with the eThekwini Municipality to get a permanent place.
“We are happy that we are finally back on air after being kicked out by KCAP for not paying rent on time.
"We are also happy that although we will no longer be using KCAP after they kicked us out, we have managed to pay them the outstanding rent," Dlamini said.

Dlamini said he hopes to find a place where the owners will be understanding if they can't pay rent on time.
The manager of KCAP centre, Thobile Ximba, told Daily Sun that although Vibe FM had settled their debt with them, they wanted nothing to do with the radio station.
“Actually, we kicked out Vibe FM in 2022 after failing to pay rent. They paid their outstanding rent. We told them that our lease with them ends in January and will not be renewed.
“January came and they didn’t move. We told them that we will extend it until the end of April and that there'll be no further negotiation,” she said.
Vibe FM has been using the KCAP centre since 2007, and got new studio equipment from the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) in 2021.
