IT was a great moment for these Mzansi legends.

The six illustrious personalities were inducted into the prestigious ranks of the South African Gallery of Legends (Sagol).

Legendary footballer Marks Maponyane and artist Thwasa were the presenters.

The glittering event took place on Thursday, 30 November 2023 at The Maslow Hotel Time Square in Menyln, Tshwane.

The six legends - Noria Mabasa, Mmakgabo Helen Sebidi, Abigail Kubeka, Esther Mahlangu, Anton Goosen and Professor Pitika Ntuli - were also presented with a cheque for R20 000 each.

The CEO of Freedom Park, Dr Jane Mufamadi, described the event as a moment of greatness.

"On behalf of Freedom Park, I'm pleased to convey our message of support.

"It's a special honour to stand in front of these legends," she said.

Mufamadi said it's vital to give our legends their flowers while they can still smell them, adding that they're guardians of wisdom.

Sagol chairwoman Ria Ledwaba said legends never die but they live on.

"It's a pleasure and a pride to be part of this momentous occasion. It's a spirit of innovation. When I look around me, I see greatness. We recognise and honour these living legends," she said.

She said their names are synonymous with dedication and honouring these people has become a beacon of inspiration.

Noria said she was happy to be included.

Mmakgabo said: "Let us love each other and help each other."

Esther said she's teaching children how to paint with a chicken feather.

She said she's happy that she has travelled to other countries, including France, which is something she never thought of before.

Legendary musician PJ Powers set everyone on the trail of memory with her song, Jabulani.

"I feel like these legends have inspired me," she said.

Legendary musician Mbongeni Ngema performed several songs, including Sarafina.
