TRIBUTES have been pouring in for former Orlando Pirates captain Papi Khomane.
The 48-year-old died on Saturday, 25 November with his mother in an accident.
He retired from football in 2007 after playing at least 150 games for the Soweto giants and earned nine caps for Bafana Bafana between 1998 and 2000.
Many soccer lovers, celebrities and fans expressed how they felt about his death and what impact he played in their lives.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) said they are saddened by the passing of Khomane and his mother.
“The League sends heartfelt condolences to the Khomane family and the football community at large. A moment of silence will be observed in their honour at all PSL fixtures this week, commencing on Sunday afternoon,” the League said.
Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Zizi Kodwa said he is also saddened by Khomane's passing.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Mr Yster Khomane, the Khomane family, and the entire South African football fraternity,” he said.

Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo paid a tribute live on SABC Sports.
He said that Khomane was one of the greatest defenders that has ever been produced in Mzansi.
“Papi was very solid at the back, and he leaves us in this world not even a single time have I heard of him complaining of his life or anything that he needs. He just decided to be a boy that goes to church with his mum,” he said.
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) also sent their condolences to the family.
“When death visits, it is never pleasant for anyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Khomane family. May they be comforted, and may his soul rest in peace,” said the party.
