CONGRATULATIONS are in order for Miss South Africa 2016 Ntandoyenkosi Kunene, who graduated with an MBA at Wits University on Thursday, 13 July.

She said the past two years were very tough and having to balance everything she does with her studies truly stretched her and her discipline.

Ntandoyenkosi (31) told Daily Sun it wasn’t an easy road, but she had a great support structure that allowed her to fly.

"I don’t completely believe in balance. As Shonda Rhimes would say: 'When I do great in one area, I could be slacking in other areas.' I struggled a lot with mum-guilt during this time. I wasn’t spending as much time with my son as I should," said Ntandoyenkosi said.

She said that looking back now, it was all worth it and her son will be proud one day.

Ntandoyenkosi, who is a well-published author, education activist and speaker from MKhondo in Mpumalanga, said she is looking forward to a better future.

"It’s an amazing feeling. It’s a dream realised, and it’s me stretching myself once again. Overall, I am elated," she said.

She said that that she is busy with community projects helping young people in her kasi.

"I’m busy working on my upcoming foundation which has started working in my hometown as a mentorship programme for 26 girls from grades 8 to 11. I’m also focusing on pouring back into my son and streamlining my life. Also, we are putting together a library and a play area for a school we adopted.

"I know this may sound cliche, but we should always work on the things that cannot be taken away from us. Things such as our education, character and mindset," she said.
