MISS South Africa is returning to SABC after 23 years with a new reality show.
The pageant with a five-part reality series called Crown Chasers starts on Sunday, 9 June, at 4pm.
According to a media release, Crown Chasers will take over for five weeks.
“The series will be leading up to the final event and the crowning of a new Miss South Africa, giving the viewers a sneak peek into the process of becoming Miss South Africa through a series of challenges, tasks and mentorship sessions,” the statement said.
The 2023 Miss SA will be at Sun International’s SunBet Arena Time Square in Tshwane on 13 August.
“All of the Crown Chasers episodes, including the finale, will also be available on the SABC+ app as catch-up and on-demand 24 hours after the broadcast,” the statement read.
Head of local productions at the SABC, Lala Tuku, said they are thrilled to have Miss South Africa back on the broadcaster.

“The Miss South Africa title carries with it a lot of hope, aspirations and most importantly, it enables young women from all backgrounds to showcase the power of what one can achieve with the right mindset. This is a showcase of intelligent, passionate and confident young women who are carving various paths towards success,” she said.
She said the SABC remains the home of events of national importance.
“Whilst the crowning is a moment to look forward to, S3 believes that the journey towards the crown is even more important imparting key lessons for viewers. To the Miss South Africa finalists, open up new worlds, transcend borders and be the best ambassadors you can be for South Africa,” she said.
Miss South Africa Organisation CEO Stephanie Weil said they are also excited and thrilled to be back on S3.
“Not only for the final pageant event but also with a real game changer that is the Crown Chasers series. We said we’d shake things up, do things differently and bring a new level of interest to the Miss South Africa competition, and I believe we have done just that,” she said.
