DJ ITU Luvsoul claims he was assaulted by an EFF councillor on Wednesday, 14 February.
The 35-year-old, whose real name is Itumeleng Morake, told Daily Sun he was insulted and beaten by a Maquassi Hills municipal councillor.
He said this is the first councillor to attack a ward member for voicing their dissatisfaction of how things are done.
The DJ from Wolmaransstad in the North West said he now lives in fear.
"The incident took place around 11am. We saw the guy on Geyer Street and my cousin greeted him as I drove past in the opposite direction.
"He drove about 200m, passed me and then turned back and drove towards my direction. He then cut me off, forcing me to stop my car. An argument ensued and I kept telling him that my cousin was the one who greeted him. But he still didn't want to listen and continued to insult me," he said.
Itu Luvsoul said the councillor then got out of his car and walked towards him.
"He started punching and hitting me with an unknown object while I was in my car. I got out of the car and the assault continued until my cousin managed to get him off me as I had already fallen.

"I sustained injuries on my right eye, right hand, left arm, lips and have a broken nose. I ended up going for an X-ray on the same day. I'm wearing a sling on the left arm, a patch on the right eye and my right hand is swollen," he said.
He said he's always afraid to walk around.
"I don't feel safe at all because of the unprovoked brutal assault. It cannot be that every time members of the community raise issues we get assaulted," he said.
Itu Luvsoul said he opened an assault and malicious damage of property case against the councillor as his phone screen broke during the scuffle while his car's right side mirror was damaged.
"I don't feel safe at all hence I've been out of town. I've lost out on making money due to the injuries I sustained as I'm a DJ. I've lost out a lot financially since the assault" he said.
When Daily Sun contacted Sixolise Gcilishe, EFF communications officer for comment, her phone didn't go through. She also didn't respond to emails.
North West police spokeswoman Colonel Adele Myburgh said a case of common assault was opened on Wednesday, 14 February. She said both men opened cases against each other.
"We can confirm that they both opened cases of assault against one another. They were both traveling in different cars when this happened. The police are still investigating their cases. No one has been arrested so far," she said.
Asked if he was aware of a case opened against him, Itu Luvsoul said he was aware of this.
