Maskandi musician Mthandeni Manqele was told to voetsek.

MASKANDI star Mthandeni "Igcokama Elisha" Manqele was told to voetsek and kicked out off stage while the mic was grabbed by Ukhozi FM presenter, Zimiphi "Zimdollar" Biyela.

This after Mthandeni failed to perform during the 7pm slot which was allocated for him during the Mother of All Maskandi Festival held at People’s Park in Durban, KZN on Saturday, 6 April.

Mthandeni arrived at about 9pm and forced himself on stage to perform while the top 30 musicians voted by fans had already started to perform.

During the festival, fans voted for top 30 musicians to perform, but Mthandeni and Khuzani were not included in the top 30 and those who were guest musicians like Mthandeni and Khuzani were given time to perform before the top 30.

After Mthandeni managed to force himself on stage, the stage manager was seen asking him nicely to leave the stage, but he continued to greet his fans.

Zimdollar, who was one of the festival organisers, got on stage to stop the sound, grabbed the mic from Mthandeni and told him to voetsek.

She tried to explain to the fans why she grabbed the mic and kicked out Mthandeni, but fans were angry and started throwing tins on stage, but they later calmed down and the top 30 musicians continued with their performances.

Zimdollar said: “I can’t be silent when someone is not respecting his work. This is the biggest festival, and we can’t be disrespected by one boy. He disrespected stage managers, MCs and disrespected event organisers by forcing himself during the performances. He disrespected the musicians in the top 30 competition."

She said what Mthandeni did hurt them and that's why she told him to voetsek.

“To me voetsek is voetsek, and it doesn’t change even when that man is powerful. People should respect their work and time. I don’t like someone who doesn't respect his work,” she said.

Daily Sun tried to get comment from Mthandeni but was unsuccessful. But he wrote on his Facebook page that he is generous and humble in heart.
