THE highly anticipated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is hitting Mzansi’s big screens today.
Local legend Connie Chiume plays the role of Zawavar while amapiano musicians Kamo Mphela, DBN Gogo, Sino Msolo, Young Stunna and Busiswa, are featured on the soundtrack.
Speaking to Daily Sun about the sequel to 2018’s Black Panther, Connie said she was very excited for people to see it.
She said they filmed under strict conditions due to Covid-19, but they kept pushing because of their love of acting.

“We were tested every second day.
“At first, it was really difficult because you can imagine a cast and crew of more than 500 people being tested every two days, but it became easy. It was the sacrifice we had to make and we did it,” she said.
Dr Ernest Khalema, who was the film’s consultant on the language and culture of the Xhosa people, said he was happy Xhosa was chosen to be featured.
“As you know, African languages are on the decline and our people are not even speaking our languages anymore,” he said.
“For Disney and Marvel to ensure that an indigenous African language is in the movie is amazing.”

Kamo spoke about being on the soundtrack with global superstars Rihanna, Burna Boy, Tems, Fireboy DML, Stormzy and Tobe Nwigwe.
“I got an email from Marvel Studios asking me to travel to Nigeria to make a song. I didn’t know it would make it to the soundtrack, and now we have two songs on the soundtrack,” she said.
