Since the news broke, messages of congratulation have been pouring in for the two.
The National Film and Video Foundation congratulated Connie on Twitter. “You deserve everything you’ll receive this year, mama. We’re proud as the #NFVF of your work and influence.” Somizi wrote: “There’s more to come, deservedly so.”
Seipati Tsoboko wrote: “You truly deserve it Mme and more. Congratulations again. We are blessed to have you. I love you so much.” Connie told Daily Sun she was very excited for the recognition and would personally accept the award.
“I am grateful for this. It means the world is not just watching my work but they love it.
“It’s not common that a person gets two lifetime awards. This is a huge milestone for me. I’ve been in the industry for 45 years and I’m still learning,” she said.
“The world of acting has changed so much. When we started, things were a lot harder but today, we have so many resources and we deal with challenges differently. I don’t claim to be an expert, but I hope the young generation can learn from my journey. My wish is to leave behind a wealth of knowledge and wisdom.”
