Veteran Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango has bagged a new ambassador deal in his homeland of Uganda with a beer company. Here's a look.
The story
It appears that despite being in the twilight of his career, Onyango's stock is yet to plummet after he bagged yet another deal in his country, where he is immensely celebrated. Beer company Niles Special recently announced that the nine-time league champion would be their brand ambassador for a term that could stretch until the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
"Today, we have partnered with renown former national team goalkeeper Denis Onyango as our brand ambassador to rally Ugandans around giving the National Team 'Uganda Cranes' a collective push to the 2026 World Cup by staking fifty Ugandan shillings (23 cents) to the Cranes Fund for every Nile Special they buy."

In attendance at the announcement of the new deal was Uganda and former Orlando Pirates boss Milutin Micho Sredojevic, who reportedly revealed he was relishing the task of pushing for World Cup qualification as there will be 48 teams in the next edition, per Ugandan outlet Monitor.
Reacting to the deal, the 37-year-old shot-stopper, who has retired from international football, said: "I’m proud to always associate with the national team even after my role as an active player.
“I feel proud to be part of this noble cause of giving a push to the Uganda Cranes in achieving the dream of qualifying to the World Cup.
“Nile Special was with us in qualifying to Africa Cup of Nations twice and I believe this lucky charm will continue with this new target."
