THREE men who were bust with a large consignment of cocaine worth more than R400 million appeared in Athlone Magistrates Court on Monday, 8 August.
Hawks spokeswoman, Zinzi Hani, said the trio was arrested on Thursday, 4 August following a tip-off about a truck suspected to be transporting drugs.
“An operation was organised on the N1 freeway, the truck was spotted at Winelands Engen garage travelling toward Cape Town.
“The vehicle was intercepted and a search was conducted wherein a large quantity of drugs was found hidden in false wooden boards at the back of the truck,” Hani said in a statement.
