Grade 8 pupil Machaka Radebe was found dead in Bloemfontein.

MISSING Machaka Radebe's dead body was recovered at Phase 9, Bloemfontein, in the Free State on Monday, 4 December.

The 16-year-old Machaka was last seen by her brother on Saturday, 2 December, at about midday.

It's alleged that the siblings slept at home in Thakalekwala Street, Rocklands in Bloemfontein.

Police spokesman Brigadier Motansi Makhele said when the brother woke up, he went to look for his sister and noticed she wasn't in her bedroom.

"He tried to call her, but her cellphone was answered by an unknown man demanding cash, or his sister would die. Bloemspruit police received information about the body of a woman found on the field. On arrival, police found the little girl with a stab wound in her back and was certified dead at the scene," Makhele said.

The motive behind the killing is still unknown at the present moment.

Machaka's brutal murder has saddened Free State Education MEC Makalo Mohale.

"We wish to convey our deepest condolences to these pupils' families and school communities. It's shocking that a normal human being would do what they did to this innocent soul. I'm deeply sad. This is satanic and devilish indeed.

"We condemn any form of violence and femicide against women and children. We call on community members to work with law enforcement urgency to bring whoever did this book," he said.

Mohale encouraged pupils, especially girls, to be vigilant and be in the company of fellow pupils on their way home after school.

Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Baile Motswenyane has instructed the investigating team to work very hard to ensure they bring the ruthless criminals to book and to bring back Lesego Mamello Motaung and Lerato Masiu, who are also still missing.
