THE Klerksdorp Magistrates Court in the North West has postponed the case of a 26-year-old man accused of murdering his girlfriend.
This is for the police to verify his alternative address.
Thabo Selabe is accused of killing Motlalepule "Soso" Mokoena of Jouberton in October 2023. Her body was found by her mother and gogo with stab wounds on her breasts, stomach and private parts. Her throat had been slit.
Selabe was arrested in October but released after what the National Prosecuting Authority said was insufficient evidence. He was rearrested on 9 November after being connected to the murder of Mokoena.
The courtroom was packed with Mokoena's family members and community members.
Her father, Papi Serake, demanded that justice be served.
"We are not happy because we don't believe the right thing will be done, but we can smile because the officer in charge of this case is demonstrating that he is doing a good job," he said.

Serake said it was also unsettling to see the accused's family in court.
"They said we were wasting our time, but we believe in the law and want justice to prevail," said Papi.
Mokoena's mum, Morongwe Mokoena, said she had come to terms with her daughter's death.
"Soso is no longer alive, and she will never return. But if they release him [accused] on bail, I'm afraid we'll be jailed as well. We're hurt since he told the magistrate during one of his court appearances that he stabbed my daughter. We're angry,” she alleged.
A resident who was in court to support the Mokoenas, Tumelo Khumalo said community members don't want to see the accused in public.
"We are not going to tell the court what is right. They know what is right. I was hurt by Soso's death because we went to the same school.
"If he is released, we will take the law into our own hands. The case has been postponed until November 29 for a formal bail application.
