A TEENAGE girl who was allegedly killed by her lover was buried at her home in Lakeside in Orange Farm, south of Joburg on Saturday, 9 December. 

Ntombifuthi Twala (18), who was pregnant at the time of her death was allegedly stabbed six times on her back and face and also stoned by her 18-year-old lover.

This after Ntombifuthi allegedly refused to have an abortion as her lover was afraid of his father finding out that he had impregnated someone. After the incident, community members chased the young man and found him at his home changing clothes that had blood stains.

Ntombifuthi was admitted to hospital on 2 October 2023 and passed away on Sunday, 3 December.

Scores of people and fellow pupils turned out for the service to bid farewell to Ntombifuthi.

Ntombifuthi's mum, Rebecca told Daily Sun she is heartbroken by the death of her daughter and asked the police to arrest the suspected boyfriend.

"I had high hopes that my daughter was going to be the first child to go to university. I was expecting more from her. The painful thing is that my daughter died with her unborn child and left me with only her pictures. I was looking forward to holding my grandchild," she said.

Speaking to young girls at the the funeral, Archbishop Sebolwa Sithole from Ted Cross Apostolic Church, said Ntombifuthi's death was not normal and they should refrain from boys and focus on their education.

“This is a tragic and senseless murder of a young woman who died just for refusing to have an abortion of an innocent soul. Now her life was cut shot by a criminal who is still walking free in the street,” he said.

Gauteng police spokeswoman, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said that an 18-year-old teenager was arrested for stabbing his girlfriend.

Nevhuhulwi said the suspect has already appeared in the Vereeniging Magistrates Court on a charge of attempted murder.
