EFF leader Julius Malema said his party made history on Monday, 20 March.

He applauded party members who came out in their numbers during their national shutdown.

He was addressing those who had marched from Church Square in Tshwane to Mahlamba Ndlopfu, the official residence of President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Party members all over Mzansi marched, demanding an end to load shedding and for Ramaphosa to step down.

“You've done well, comrades, whether the enemy likes it or not," he said.

He said people had labelled their protest a Mickey Mouse march.

“We never tweeted about them but the march never trended. This shutdown has been trending for days,” he said.

“We thank you for supporting the national shutdown. We thank you for being brave. We thank you for being fearless. When they put more than 3000 soldiers on the streets, they wanted to intimidate us,” he said.

Malema said Ramaphosa must leave the Mahlamba Ndlopfu.

"It's high time to unite in the country and in Africa. This animal is capitalism. The current government found the current institution that was working and destroyed it," he said.

Malema said South Africa was going down under Ramaphosa's leadership.

"Ramaphosa must leave now. He is no longer our president," said Malema.

"Selling tyres is not illegal in South Africa. Our protest culture in South Africa includes burning of tyres," he said.

Malema said people were burning their own tyres not government tyres.

Pan Africanist Congress of Azania's president, Mzwanele Nyhontso, said that they also wanted Ramaphosa to go and load shedding to end.

Carl Niehaus, the leader of African Radical Economic Transformation Alliance, said: "You time is up, Ramaphosa. We are waiting to see you leaving this house."

African Transformation Movement leader Vuyolwethu Zungula also said Ramaphosa must resign.
