KING Misuzulu is refusing to meet a new committee who call themselves Abakhuseli Besihlalo (throne protectors).

The committee, which is made up of amakhosi and senior princes, was formed after two meetings of amakhosi and senior royal members after the squabble between King Misuzulu and Zulu traditional prime minister Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

The committee requested a meeting with the King on 6 June 2023, but the King responded that he won't meet them as there were illegitimate committees in the Zulu kingdom.

The King's spokesman, Prince Africa Zulu, told Daily Sun that Misuzulu does not recognise the committee and he referred to them as rebels.

“That committee was not sanctioned by the King and we don’t know who they are protecting the throne from. They are a WhatsApp group formed to attack the King. So, the King will not have time for them because he is busy with something to develop his nation,” he said.

Prince Africa said the committee was formed to undermine the King’s decision after he appointed Inkosi Thanduyise Mzimela as the new chairman of Ingonyama Trust.

“The King will call the leaders of this committee Inkosi Bhekizizwe Biyela and former royal house spokesman Prince Thulani to explain themselves about who authorised them to form the committee,” he said.

Biyela, chairman of Abakhuseli Besihlalo, said the committee was formed after the two meetings of amakhosi and senior royal members and the King knew about the meetings.

“The committee is not against the King, but is supporting him and protecting the throne. We wrote a letter to the King on 6 June 2023, requesting a meeting to inform him about the outcomes of the two meetings we had,” he said.

He said that they have not been given a day for the meeting and they still request the day to come.

“As the committee, we want to confirm that we were the ones who supported King Misuzulu during the divisions and we still support him," he said.
