MANY people are worried that Zulu King Misuzulu might be dethroned.
This is due to the current Zulu Royal house squabbles. But the King has assured his people that he is going nowhere.
Misuzulu was speaking during the National Men’s Day march held at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, south of Durban on Saturday, 22 July.
He also asked his people to not hold grudges about the Zulu Royal house squabbles and instead join him in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV).
“This time I promise you that I’m not backing off. I will work with you until the end. To give me hope, I ask you to let the Royal house squabbles go, because it is for a purpose and it can be resolved. I will continue to lead the nation. Those rumours that come out saying I will be dethroned, I want to tell you that angiyindawo (I’m not going anywhere),” said the King.

Misuzulu, who led a march against GBV from Mangosuthu University of Technology to King Zwelithini Stadium, urged men to not perpetrate GBV against women and children. Instead, he encouraged men to get married.
“Let me say this good news Zulu men, if you are behaving, we will negotiate the lobola cows’ quantity,” said the King.
The march was also graced by Minister in the Presidency for Women Youth and Persons with Disabilities Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and deputy health minister, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo. Dlamini-Zulu said it is totally unacceptable that South Africa faces the highest female homicide among the five countries with the highest murder rate.
“What are men saying about this? We don’t agree. SAPS reported 25 204 murders in 2021 and 2022, and 3 198 of those were women,” said the minister.
The march was organised by the Goodmen Foundation.
