FOLLOWING the contradictory statements from Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi and King Misuzulu's spokesman, Prince Africa Zulu about the King’s health after poison suspicions, Buthelezi has finally decided to tell it all.
The royal house's two centres of communication left the nation confused after the King's senior induna Douglas Xaba died following suspicions of poisoning on Saturday, 1 July.
Buthelezi, who's the Zulu monarch traditional prime minister, had previously updated the nation that the King was in hospital receiving medical attention after suspecting he might have been poisoned as well.
However, Prince Africa released a counter statement denying this, saying the King was visiting his uncle in Eswatini and did routine checkups at a hospital.
Following this statement, Buthelezi came out guns blazing, saying the King received medical attention at eZulwini Private Hospital in Eswatini on Saturday and doctors who attended to him were known.
“What Prince Africa is not telling the nation is that he approached the Swazis, in particular Prince Vumile, asked them to assist so that his majesty could leave KZN at night to urgently seek medical attention in Eswatini.
“The assertion by Prince Africa that his majesty is in Eswatini to visit his uncle, his majesty King Mswati III, is a blatant lie. His Majesty, king Mswatii III was not in Eswatini when his majesty arrived, nor has he returned,” he said.

Buthelezi said he was executing his duties as the traditional prime minister to the Zulu monarch by informing the nation that he had received news from Prince Vumile, King Mswati III's brother, that King Misuzulu had taken ill and was being treated at a hospital.
“Since that announcement, Prince Africa has issued a rather disjointed counter statement as well as a video,” he said.
He said when the late King Zwelithini was hospitalised, he meticulously and regularly kept the nation updated.
When Daily Sun contacted Prince Africa on Sunday, 2 July, he admitted the King went to the hospital for check-ups after Xaba's mysterious death. However, he later released a statement saying the King was in Eswatini for a visit and routine check-ups.
On Tuesday, 4 July, Prince Africa told Daily Sun: “In the Royal house, there is one head of communication to communicate to avoid any misinformation. I’m the one who should release statements about the King.”
