A FORMER Maluti-A-Phofung official appeared in the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrates Court in the Free State on Friday, 13 October.
He was charged with theft after he allegedly refused to bring back a laptop that he was using at a funeral home where he was employed as a Human Resources manager.
The former official was suspended by the funeral parlour with regard to internal matters in September and he challenged his suspension at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).

The funeral homes' spokesman requested not to comment.
"We cannot give any comment at the present moment as the matter is handled by court. Let’s wait until the court pronounces itself," he said.
The theft case was postponed to 3 November. He was released on R1000 bail. The controversial Leluma resigned from Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality in 2003 before a disciplinary hearing could be concluded.
This was in relation to his qualification as questions were raised about the existence of the college he claimed to have obtained his diploma from.
