FREE STATE cops are issuing a R50 000 reward to help apprehend a suspect following the gruesome discovery of a woman’s body with a slit throat.

According to Captain Stephen Thakeng, on 31 August at about 2pm, Odendaalsrus police received a complaint about a body of a woman lying on a farm next to K10 Section, Kutlwanong.

“The body was found by a resident of Kutlwanong who was busy cutting wood. On cops’ arrival, they found the body of an unknown African woman with a slit throat,” Thakeng said.

He said the woman is estimated to be 28 years old.

Thakeng said the woman had a wedding ring on her finger and her clothes were scattered next to her.

“A case of murder has been registered for further investigation. Nobody has been reported missing and the police are appealing to anyone who might have lost a relative or have information about the suspect to come forward,” he said.

Anyone with information regarding the case is urged to contact the investigator Detective Sergeant Seleke Mahloko of Odendaalsrus at 082 301 2797 or CrimeStop on 08600 10111.
