LIMPOPO police have offered a cash reward of R250 000 for any valuable information that can lead to the arrest and subsequent conviction of the suspects responsible for the murder of Collins Chabane Mayor, Moses “Big Moss” Maluleke.

The 56-year-old was gunned down at his home in Shikundu Village outside Malamulele on the night of Thursday, 21 July.

His 18-year-old son was also shot and wounded.

Provincial commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe, who visited the scene on the night of the shooting, immediately assembled a task team led by a senior officer to probe the incident and investigations are currently underway.

“We are offering a cash reward of up to R250 000 for any valuable information that can lead to the arrest and subsequent conviction of the suspects responsible for the gruesome murder of the mayor,” said Hadebe.

“According to information at our disposal, three armed suspects entered Maluleke’s home around 7pm and demanded money. When they couldn’t provide it, the suspects then shot the victims and fled the scene,” said Hadebe.

The mayor died instantly, while his son sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for medical attention.

Anyone with valuable information that can lead to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators is urged to contact Brigadier Chris Mabasa on 082 469 0739. Alternatively, they may contact the CrimeStop number 086 001 0111 or their nearest police station or MySAPSApp.

Hadebe said callers may choose to remain anonymous and any information received will be treated with strict confidentiality. Maluleke’s death sent shock waves across the village and among politicians.

Premier Stan Mathabatha has also urged the law enforcement agencies to do everything in their powers to bring the perpetrators of this gruesome killing to book.
