Cops hunt for suspect who shot man multiple times

accreditation

WESTERN Cape police have launched a manhunt for a suspect who shot and killed a 42-year-old man on Thursday, 25 August at Vulindlela Road opposite Lwandle hostel at the barbecue stands.

According to Captain Frederick Van Wyk, the victim from Khayelitsha was with his three friends at about 7.30pm when an unknown suspect shot him multiple times in the head and upper body.

“He succumbed to his wounds. A 39-year-old female bystander was shot in the leg and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

“Information collected on the scene confirmed that the gunman only shot the deceased and not any of his friends. Circumstances around the case are still under investigation by the Lwandle police detectives,” Van Wyk said.

He said the motive for the killing is yet to be established.

Anyone who might have information regarding the incident or knows the whereabouts of the suspect is urged to contact Detective Captain Lenny Pillay on 079 894 0119 or CrimeStop on 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS app.
