THE ANC has condemned attacks on its members in KZN.
ANC members were allegedly attacked after attending a wreath-laying ceremony at King Dinuzulu’s grave site at Emakhosini, KwaCeza that was attended by President Cyril Ramaphosa, and King Misuzulu kaZwelithini on Saturday, 16 March.
The site was constructed to preserve and restore the history of the Zulu Kings.
ANC spokeswoman Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri said the party was disappointed that after a successful event, its members were attacked by IFP members who were bussed in from a hostel.
“We are comforted by the reports that our members are recovering after receiving urgent medical attention from health professionals at KwaCeza hospital. The ANC condemns attack on ANC members and encouraged by reports of peace talks between ANC and IFP in KZN,” she said.

Bhengu-Motsiri called on the police to investigate the attack and ensure the swift arrest of the perpetrators.
She said:
“In pursuing long-term peace and stability, there are a few elements that must be isolated by all peace-loving people in the province.”
A voice note of an ANC member pleading with his branch leaders to ask the provincial leaders to intervene went viral on social media.
He could be heard saying his comrades were at KwaCeza hospitals receiving stitches and that police were not helping them.
Bhengu-Motsiri reminded those who are beating the drums of violence that the tension and conflict that Mzansi carried over many decades were finally settled in 1994.
