THE campiagns are heating up at Entembeni village in Melmoth ward 6 where there will be by-election next week.
The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and African National Congress (ANC) are on the ground begging for votes for the by-election that will take place next week on Thursday, 19 July.
The ward became vacant after an ANC councillor resigned early this year.
The race is between the IFP which is hoping to snatch the ward from ANC.
On Tuesday, 11 July, the King Cetshwayo District which is led by IFP hosted a LED material handover ceremony at Ntandokazi Sport Field.
Meanwhile the Department of Agriculture and Land Reform led by Super Zuma held a program a few kilometers from where King Cetshwayo held their own.
Both ceremonies were graced by ward candidates. The IFP candidate attended the King Cetshwayo ceremony while ANC candidate attended the Department ceremony.

Villager, Phumile Sibisi (72) said their main issue is roads and water.
"Our main problem is water and we beleive that the person who will be voted in will work hard on sorting it. We have mud roads which makes it impossible to travel during rainy days," said Phumile.
IFP candidate, Swelihle Masuku said his main focus if voted in will be the issue of water and roads which is one of the main problems they have in this ward.
Speaking at the District ceremony, Mayor Thami Ntuli said villagers should vote for the people they know who come to them even when there are no by-elections.
"I am not saying who you should vote for but you know the people who have been with you all this time. You must ask yourself why do these MECs and Premier come only when there are elections around the corner. That why I am saying you need to vote for the people who will stay with you afterwards. Not for the people who will dissappear after elections," said Ntuli.
