Speaking about her win, she said she was surprised.

“I’d like to thank God. Whoever doubted God should look at me and follow my story. South Africa, God is alive, thanks to the cast and crew of Redemption and the production for believing in me. There’s nothing like a small role. Actors out there, please be motivated when you see me," Deli said.

Lawrence Maleka, who was hosting the awards, took the award for Best Actor in a telenovela for Zolani on The River.

“Phathu and Gwydion, I don’t know what possessed you to say yes to me but thank you. To the platform, thank you. To Sindi Dlathu, Hlomla Dandala, Lunathi Mampofu, and the entire cast of The River, this one is for you," he said.

“Thank you to my incredible cast members, who we laugh with, cry with and are family. Thank you to my family, my mum and my sister, who made this dress. Thank you God and all of you for loving How to Ruin Christmas,” Thando said.

Other winners include Scandal, which won the biggest award, Most Popular TV Soap or Telenovela (Public Vote), and Best TV Soap.

Lifetime Achiever Award recipients were Koos Roets and the late Derek Watts.
