Black Brain Pictures wins big at the Saftas

BLACK Brain Pictures has extended its gratitude to Mzansi Magic and viewers of their shows.

This production house recently won awards in the most sought-after categories at the South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas).

They were nominated in 15 categories and they won eight awards.

The eight awards were in some of the most highly contested categories, including Most Popular TV Soap/ Telenovela and Best Achievement in Directing categories, for their hit show DiepCity.

The Best Actor in a Drama award went to Thobani Dlomo Nzuza, who stars in another Mzanzi favourite eHostela.

Boxing Day won theBest Made for TV Movie.

The creative director at Black Brain Pictures, Mandla N said: “We are very excited to be counted among the greats in South African television and movie making. We want to thank our partners at Mzansi Magic for giving us the platform to tell great South African stories and our incredible team at Black Brain Pictures for their hard work and dedication.”

Fans from across the country voted in their numbers for DiepCity to win the Most Popular TV Soap/Telenovela award.

Mpumelelo Nhlapo, executive director at the production company, said: “We cannot thank our loyal fans enough for the support they have shown to DiepCity. Without them, this award would not have been possible.”

The award ceremony was held virtually on 2 September.
