IT IS almost the end of the year.

While some people are celebrating achieving their resolutions, others are grieving as they lost their loved ones over the year.

And, South Africa also lost some of its favourite celebs.

In January, Mzansi woke up to the sad news of the death of veteran actor Patrick Shai, who died by suicide at the age of 65.

In February the death of rapper Riky Rick left many people devastated. The rapper was known for wearing stylist designer clothes. Real name is Rikhado Makhado (34), Riky also died by suicide. He was reportedly struggling with depression, which could have been the reason he decided to take his own life.

As if that was not enough, the same month also saw The Estate actor Siyanda Sesimani (31) dying in hospital. He had been attacked by thugs in a house break-in at home in Meredale, Joburg.

DJ Citi Lyts
DJ Citilyts was shot and killed in Soweto.

This was followed by the sudden death of DJ City Lyts, real name Sandile Mkhize (32). He was shot to death in Dube, Soweto.

Rapper Itumeleng “Tumi” Tladi was also one of the celebs who lost their lives in 2022. He died in June, aged 30.Gospel legend Deborah Fraser also died in June aged 56 after an illness. She once revealed that she was suffering from diabetes and at the time of her death, she was wheelchair-bound.

DJ Sumbody

Amapiano producer DJ Sumbody (46), real name Oupa Sefoka, died in a hail of bullets in November in Joburg. The Monate Mpolaye hitmaker was on his way back from a performance when unknown men shot and killed him.
