MZANSI is wishing the internationally acclaimed DJ, Nkosinathi "Black Coffee" Maphumulo a speedy recovery after he was involved in a serious flight accident.

The 47-year-old international DJ was on his way to perform at a show in Mar Del Plata in Argentina on Wednesday, 10 January when the accident which resulted in unforeseen complications and left him with injuries happened.

Musician Demor Sikhosana (48) who was part of the trio Shana with Black Coffee, and Shota from 1997 to 2008, told Daily Sun that the news hurt them.

“We were hurt when we heard the bad news that he had been in a flight accident and now we are praying for him, and we put our hopes in the medical team and God.

DJ Kotini, whose real name is Siyabonga Zikode (38), told Daily Sun that he was hurt when he heard that Black Coffee was involved in an in-flight accident.

“What is more painful is that Black Coffee is now an international DJ and his travels only depend on the flights and if he is involved in a flight accident he will also go through trauma,” he said.

DJ Cndo, whose real name is Sindisiwe Zungu (40), told Daily Sun that she is grateful that the house music DJ didn’t die.

“We're praying for him to get well soon because we want him to continue representing Mzansi on the international stage,” she said.

Minister of Sport, Art and Culture Zizi Kodwa also joined Mzansi to wish Black Coffee a speedy recovery.

“I wish Black Coffee a speedy recovery. You have done so much to elevate South African music and take it to the world. I spoke to Black Coffee’s family last night who are with him. All the best in your recovery,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Daily Sun contacted Zizi Kodwa’s spokesperson Litha Mpondwana for a comment but he said the minister has no further comment except the one on his Facebook page.
