Sports presenter Robert Marawa had a man arrested for malicious damage to property and theft.

THE suspect linked to the theft and malicious damage to property belonging to top sports presenter Robert Marawa has been remanded in custody.

The 53-year-old suspect, Bhekinkosi Khanyile, appeared in the Nkandla Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 12 March.

He was arrested in connection with the robbery at the 51-year-old sports presenter's business property.

The incident happened at Marawa's business premises in Nkandla, northern KZN, from 5 November to 25 November 2023.

It's believed that Marawa's business property was targeted by thugs who broke in and stole.

The sports presenter, who has been in the industry for several years, owns business property in his birth home of Nkandla called Fort Louis, also known as KwaMarawa.

He inherited it from his late father, Frank Marawa, who was a well-known businessman in Nkadla and Durban.

It's believed that Robert's business property, rented by other businesspeople running a spaza shop, supermarket, and bottle store, was damaged, and some of the materials were also stolen.

However, the matter was remanded to 16 April for the regional court date.

Khanyile remains in custody until April when he will get the regional court date.

The matter is now heading towards the end, and Khanyile would soon know his fate in the charge against him.
