THE Gagasi FM Beach Fest intends to give the station's listeners and music lovers a good start to the Christmas season.

It's the first time that this popular event will not be held on the beach. The station said it has moved it to a bigger venue because it sees it growing every year.

The festival, featuring a line-up of top musicians, will take place on Saturday, 2 December at Moses Mabhida People’s Park in Durban.

The festival, which is also celebrating its 10th anniversary, having normally been held for nine years near the various beaches in Durban, sold out two weeks before the event.

TKZee, Nasty C, Maphorisa, Tyler ICU, Dlala Thukzin, Blaq Diamond, Thinah Zungu, Nomfundo Moh, Khaya Mthethwa, Bello no Gallo, Dladla Mshunqisi, K.O, Murumba Pitch, Big Zulu, Professor and many more will share the stage.

Pinky Myeni, head of commercial hub on Gagasi FM, told Daily Sun that the fact that the festival welcomes the summer and festive season is proof that people love it.

"Gagasi FM Beach Fest has grown so much in the last ten years. The fact that we sold out two weeks before the event shows the entertainment value we have built behind this brand.

"It's more than just an event. It's become a lifestyle and the official start to KZN's summer season that resonates so well with our audience," she said.

She said this year is the first time they are using a venue that is not on the beach because the event has grown so much.

"But we can assure our listeners that the essence of the event will not be lost. They will have a beach experience at People’s Park on Saturday, 2 December," she said.

Gagasi FM presenters such as Khaya Dladla, Felix Hlophe, Minnie Ntuli, Penny Ntuli, Hope Mbhele, Heazy, and Zisto will be the MCs.
