SIHLE Nzima has finally hit a big break on his first career after becoming an extra with a few lines on Isibaya and Generation: The Legacy.
The second-year journalism student at Durban University of Technology (DUT) has bagged his first acting role on Mzansi Wethu’s telenovela Sibongile & The Dlaminis.
The 24-year-old aspiring actor from Nquthu in KZN said getting a role to play a troublesome young man who was recently released from jail is his dream come true.
He told Daily Sun that from the start, he wanted to be an actor and study acting, but it was already full when he applied at the DUT acting department.
“In 2019 and 2020, I was up and down in Joburg looking for an acting role, but unfortunately, I didn’t find it. Instead, I got to be an extra with a few lines to say on Isibaya and Generation: The Legacy.

“I decided to go to Durban at DUT, and I did a higher certificate in public administration in 2021, then I applied for acting but unfortunately it was full. I then applied for journalism as my second choice,” he said.
He said that while he was doing his diploma at DUT, one of his friends, who knew that he loved acting, sent him a social media post seeking actors.
“I sent an email where I attached my profile and requested an audition script. The following day, I went to the auditions and waited for the response for months until finally, they came back to me and offered me the role of Government.
“I was ecstatic and jumped around my room in disbelief. I’m happy that the long-time dream has finally come true, and I’m representing my village, Nondweni, in Nquthu, KZN,” he said.
He said he would stick to journalism because he hopes he has more chances.
“Because I love acting, I will continue to do it and get a journalism job as my backup. I have already started searching because next year I will be finishing my diploma. I did a Gagasi FM presenter search a few months ago. Unfortunately, it was not my time. But I will keep trying,” he said.
