AFRICA'S first anthropology animation series, Kizazi Moto: Fire Generation, finally debuted last week, and Africans are excited about it.
Some of the directors and producers of the show spoke to Daily Sun about the show that stars African actors such as Florence Kasumba, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Pearl Thusi, Kehinde Bankole, Sheila Munyiva, rapper Nasty C, and Sne Dladla.
Pious Nyenyewa, the director of one of the films called 'Zimbabwe Mukudzei', explained the series.
"Kizazi Moto is basically ten films from six countries, all across the continent. They are all forged from different cultural experiences. The stories are different in their own respect, but they all tell one story about a teacher. These are ten sci-fi films, and we are changing the narrative of how people view Africa and the entrainment value of what we can bring to the world," he said.
Executive Producer Anthony Silverston said the series started as a way to find talented directors.

"This started as a thing to find talented directors. The series has ten parts, which means that ten directors would get opportunities. And at the time, Black Panther had just come out and done really well. There was an interest in what was coming next. So really, what inspired this was the combination of those two things," he said.
Anthony said the series has been in the works for three years.
"It was three years from pitching concepts to developing it. Development was a year, and production was about two years. But that was also because we were staggering the productions. Ten projects at once were complex, especially during the pandemic and working with people worldwide."
"Luckily, Disney was very supportive. They greenlit it and pushed it through. A project of this scale takes a miracle, and I mean, it's the first time it's happening.
"We worked in different places from Zimbabwe, Joburg, Egypt, London to Canada. The great thing with animation is that it's a collaboration, and you can do one thing in another place and another from another place," he said.
