AT 35, Naledi Moleo is celebrating 20 years as a news anchor.

The radio and TV newsreader started as a child star on Kids News and now she hosts the AM Report on Newzroom Afrika.

Naledi recently joined the channel and hosts the morning show alongside Aldrin Sampear and sports anchor Andee Mahamba.

Reflecting on her career, she said the past 20 years have been quite a journey.

Her shows included X Marks the Spot and Just Chill. She also ventured into radio presenting and TV production.

The news anchor also produced for a Brazilian news network for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

“It all kicked off back in 2004 when I started hosting news shows aimed at the youth. I quickly realised I had a knack for storytelling and a passion for keeping people informed. That gig got me hooked on the power of media to shape minds and spark change. So, I figured why not make a career out of it?” Naledi said.

As part of International Women's Day celebrations on Friday, 8 March, Newzroom Afrika is celebrating its women anchors, including Naledi as one of their leading ladies.

She joined Newzroom Afrika on 12 February and enjoys being part of the channel.

“I'm energised by Newzroom Afrika and its trajectory. As a relatively young channel, it's already made a significant impact on the news landscape in Mzansi. The channel's dedication to quality journalism and its commitment to diversifying perspectives are incredibly important, especially in a country like ours where inclusivity is crucial for understanding our complex society.

“Being part of this journey is both professionally fulfilling and personally rewarding, and I'm excited to see how the channel continues to shape the future of news in our country,” Naledi said.

The news anchor enjoys interviewing some of the country’s top politicians.

“One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been the privilege to interview influential figures who have played significant roles in shaping the country. I've had the honour to speak with luminaries such as former president Thabo Mbeki, Gerrie Nel, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, and Helen Zille, among others.

“Every time I have the opportunity to engage with individuals who deeply impact our nation, I'm filled with excitement and a sense of responsibility to bring their insights to our audience,” she said.
