CASTING agencies have started looking for Zulu-speaking actors to be part of the most-watched Mzansi Magic TV series, Shaka iLembe season two.

The new season will be shot in Joburg in March 2024, and casting agencies like Becky Casting Agency and Lawadi Casting Agency have started looking for Zulu-speaking actors in KZN and Gauteng.

The requirements are strict.

Actors must have natural looks, no relaxed hair, no tattoos, and no golden teeth, while those who want to be Zulu warriors must be tall and fit from 5 to 85 years old.

Shaka iLembe set tongues wagging when it aired on Mzansi Magic earlier this year.

Three weeks after it premiered, the TV series scored a big new win on Mzansi Magic and increased viewership from 3,6 million to 4,3 million.

Many people were excited to watch their favourite actors like Nomzamo Mbatha, Dawn Thandeka King, Khabonina Qubeka, Senzo Radebe, Wiseman Mncube, Mondli Makhoba and many more.

But not all people were happy about the TV series as many historians, cultural experts, and clans like the Mhlongos, Mthethwas, and Ndwandwes accused the TV series of distorting history.

Shaka iLembe season two is expected to feature new stars and those who were featured in season one.

MultiChoice CEO General Entertainment Nomsa Philiso confirmed that the popular TV series is coming back for a new season."

“MultiChoice is really committed to telling the Shaka iLembe story, and this season two announcement confirms our intention to honour the iconic figure of King Shaka with a continuation of his story on air.

“The fact that viewers across South Africa, and indeed the continent, have been so passionately supportive of the show, turning in to watch weekly, sharing their commentary online, and really engaging with this layered of the Nguni kingdoms, has been fantastic. We are now looking forward to bringing season two to life,” Nomsa said.
