MR JAZZIQ has opened up about how the tragic death of his friends affected him.
Next month marks a year since amapiano artists, Killer Kau and Mpura, died in a car accident.
Mzansi didn’t make things easy for Mr JazziQ as they dragged him, calling him with all sorts of names for not attending the stars’ memorial and funeral services.
Mr JazziQ, whose real name is Tumelo Manyoni, is now expressing his grief through his upcoming album.
On Wednesday, 27 July, the amapiano DJ and producer held a listening session to showcase hits from his upcoming album, which is set to be released on 12 August.
He said most of the album is dedicated to the artists who died, who were also his friends, while some songs will tell people who he really is as an artist.
He said when news of Killer Kau and Mpura’s deaths broke, he was in Ghana for a gig with his manager.
He said it hit him so hard that he couldn’t function for a week, locked up in his hotel room.
“I couldn’t eat or sleep. I was just devastated and really didn’t know how I could deal with their deaths,” said JazziQ.

He said people dragged him and came for his character, making the pain even harder to deal with.
“I usually don’t care about what trolls say, but this really hit me hard and it was so difficult for me to even get past it,” he said.
JazziQ deactivated his social media accounts for sometime because of how mean people were towards him.
But he eventually soldiered on and continued to work.
“I really started looking at the world differently. I don’t think I’ll ever fully heal from that, but we’ll keep celebrating the gents,” said JazziQ.
He promised Mzansi they’ll definitely love his upcoming album.
“Some of the music is dedicated to the gents, but some of it is about me. Mzansi will get to know the real JazziQ through the album,” he said.
