MASKANDI artist Babini "Coloured Elimhlophe" Ngqikiza (34) lives in fear.
This is after vutha hit the inside of his new car. The car was parked outside his home in Borwa near Westonaria, west of Joburg, when the mysterious fire broke out.
The incident happened on Sunday, 28 April.
"I was in the house listening to one of my songs Cishe Ngafa, which means I almost died, when a neighbour called me and said my car was on fire. I rushed outside and couldn't believe my eyes. We quickly put the fire out and from then on, I was not well.
"Nothing that could have caused the fire in the car. The car is still in good condition and the wiring is also in good condition. I don't know what's going on," he said.
Babini thanked God that the fire was spotted in time.
"Vutha hit where I usually place my guitar. Luckily, it was in my bedroom that day. I suspect someone who's jealous is stalking me," he said.
He added that since the release of his album on Thursday, 28 March 2024, he has noticed some people are not happy about his success.
"The album is doing well, and you can't expect everyone to be happy for you. But I didn't this," he said.
Babini said he consulted a sangoma who told him the vutha was meant to destabilise him.
He said he had collaborated with renowned maskandi artist Dr Buselaphi Gxowa for his new album.

Dr Buselaphi told Daily Sun Babini is an up-and-coming artist who educates people about culture.
"He's a talented young man. I'm disturbed by this shocking news. After recording with him, he also opened a spaza shop. I think this is pure jealousy," Buselaphi said.
"The sangoma says the fire was meant to attack me in my house but amadlozi diverted it. I appeal to my enemies to relax and stop. I'm a praying fighter," he said.
Coloured Elimhlope's albums include Siyabonga, Izinkomo Zamalobola which was featured on Umhlobo Wenene FM, Cishe Ngafa, Iyanga yam, Dungamzi and Do not Stop.
