RENOWNED radio and TV presenter Robert "Madluphuthu" Marawa's business property was targeted by thugs.

Robert (50) from Nkandla, KZN had his business property damaged, which is known as Fort Louis or KwaMarawa in Nkandla, and some of the material stolen in November 2023.

A 53-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and is set to make his appearance in the Nkandla Magistrates Court on 19 February.

A source told Daily Sun that the property, which is rented by other businesspeople, was damaged and some of the material was stolen.

"On this business property, there are three buildings for businesses and the one that was damaged is for a spaza shop known as KwamaMchunu by Nkandla residents.

"Robert arrived with many police officers after the incident. He's running that business property and inherited it from his father Frank Marawa, who was a well-known businessman in Nkandla," said the source.

Another source told Daily Sun Robert’s business property is in a quiet place where it is easier for thugs to do as they please.

“Out of three buildings there's only one that is running, which is a spaza shop. The supermarket and bottle store are currently closed because of the non-stop break-ins because the business property is not fenced,” said the source.

Daily Sun tried to contact Robert for comment, but his phone was off.

KZN police spokesman Colonel Robet Netshiunda confirmed that Robert opened a case at Nkandla Police Station.

“Nkandla police have arrested a 53-year-old man for malicious damage to property and theft following an incident that occurred at a business premises on 5 November to 25 November 2023.

“It's alleged that a man visited his business premise and noticed that the houses were damaged, and some materials were stolen. The suspect made his first appearance on 27 November 2023 before the Nkandla Magistrates Court and the case was remanded to 19 February,” he said.
