THE Drakensberg Extravaganza and Heritage Experience is back.
The 11-day festival, which aims to build social cohesion and remind people about their heritage, will be held in Bergville, KZN from 23 November to 3 December 2023.
The festival will feature art, culture, music and sport, with famous musicians such as Nasty C, Nathi Mankayi, Goldmax, Lwah Ndlunkulu and Big Zulu also gracing the event.
Event organiser Sipho Ndaba told Daily Sun: “Since its inception in 2017, the Drakensberg Extravaganza, a celebration of art, culture, music, sport and community has become a prominent feature on KZN’s annual events calendar.
“Festivities will commence with a two-day tourism summit and business fair at Bergville Sport Centre. On 24 November 2023, theatre enthusiasts will revel in a show performed by the Drakensberg Community Arts,” he said.

There will be a race at Bergville Sports Centre, which is an official qualifier for the Comrades Marathon and Two Oceans Marathon.
Nature lovers will enjoy themselves at the Hike and Wine Experience at the Royal Natal Park Gudu Falls, and there will also be a fishing, jazz and heritage experience at Woodstock Dam.
A fashion show, rural youth development and empowerment summit, agriculture and land summit, social cohesion and moral regeneration summit and professionals and academics gala dinner, will also be part of the festivities.
“The Drakensberg Extravaganza is about getting the community involved in economic activities and building a socially cohesive society.
“It's also about celebrating our diverse artistic talents and building through music and sport. We urge locals to make sure they partake in activities. We further invite friends from other places to descend to our area to not only impact their knowledge and skills, but also enjoy Drakensberg and what it can offer '' he said.
