THE five murder suspects, Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi (30), Lindelani Ndimade (30), Siyanda Myeza (22), Mziwethemba Gwabeni (36) and Lindokuhle Ndimande (29), accused of gunning down AKA and Tibz, appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court on Thursday, 29 February.

AKA, whose real name is Kiernan Forbes, and his friend Tebello Motsoane were gunned down at The Wish on Florida Road in Durban on 10 February 2023.

AKA’s dad, Tony Forbes, Police Minister Bheki Cele and KZN Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi attended the case.

The suspects will apply for bail on 6, 14, 19 and 27 March.

Tony told Daily Sun they were relieved that they were closer to finding justice for his son and were told that those arrested in Eswatini would be back in Mzansi soon.

“From the beginning, we were told that extradition can be complex, and it can take up to three months. We don’t control the guys from that side.

“I didn’t expect that it would to be quick. This is my first encounter with the suspects, and they look like ordinary people who have committed something horrible like this for money,” Tony said.

Police minister Bheki Cele said their wish was for everything to be handled properly throughout and for the families to see justice.

“We met a young guy yesterday on Florida Road who told us he always thought the police were useless and said he didn't know what they were doing behind the scenes.

“Another problem was that the police were under pressure to be seen to be doing something,” he said.

AKA’s murder case has been postponed to Wednesday, 6 March, for bail application.
