GOSPEL singer Ayanda Shange has shared that his wife, Koketso Shange, was nearly kidnapped.
The incident happened last Wednesday, 14 December. Taking to Facebook, he wrote: “I nearly lost my gift (wife) through kidnapping. We are still in shock and can’t thank God enough. An old mother at a Shoprite in Ennerdale was following my wife while she was shopping. She followed her until they were at a quiet place.”
He said the woman then sprayed Koketso with muthi.
“This old rotten mother sprayed my wife in her eyes with muthi. She couldn’t scream or do anything, but she was obeying whatever she was saying. This mother tried to make a call to her man to come and fetch Koketso, but there was load shedding so the network was off. She took her to Lawley extension 10, where she was going to hand her over to her accomplice. Fortunately, a mother from our church TACC (Twelve Apostles’ Church in Christ) recognised Koketso and asked her what she was doing there,” he continued.

“My wife couldn’t respond and instead, tears started flowing. Our church mother realised that there was a problem, and that is when the rotten mother ran away.
The spray locked her for 30 minutes.”
Ayanda went on to urge people to be vigilant at all times.
“Hayi bafowethu, life is something else. Let’s be careful, especially women as you are a target. To see an old woman like that doing this to another woman shows a lack of ubuntu. I thank God that my wife is safe. Although she is traumatised, we thank God for her life. I gave that rotten mother three days – she will see my God.”
The singer told Daily Sun that they decided not to open a case.

“We felt that it would be pointless because the actual kidnapping didn’t take place. Instead, we are planning to do a campaign around that area. We learnt that a lot of young girls and women are kidnapped in that area, so we want to raise awareness,” he said.
Koketso said she was still too traumatised to speak about her ordeal.
